Assassin's Creed Introduces Unexpected AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected crossover event that challenges usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Revealed
According to the formal release, "A mysterious encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of forbidden rituals and terrifying transformations reverberate through the darkness." The storyline features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a secret cult.
The mission focuses on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Transformations
The teaser showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Material
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an unique katana alongside multiple items secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Update
This patch also introduces the game's third complimentary story content, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
